Renee Baker is a renowned conductor, composer, and violist and is the founding director of Chicago's Modern Orchestra Project. Renee's has composed hundreds of pieces that have been performed around the globe. CMOP has become an internationally recognized group and is known for playing pieces from living composers as well as from many other genres.
Warm Broth is a piece performed by Chicago's Modern Orchestra Project. This piece is a brilliant melting pot of genres. The sophistication of classical music, along with techniques of jazz can be heard throughout the entire piece. A joy to watch and listen to, Warm Broth reminds me of the diversity that makes music what it is: creative, fun, thought-provoking. This piece has definitely challenged me to reconsider what I'm creating, and how I can mix it up to create something new and wonderful.

Blu' City Documentary follows Renee Baker's story about her love for music, her creation of Chicago Modern Orchestra Project. She promotes new music and living composers by not only using new notations, and encouraging CMOP to perform both "through composed and non-traditional scores" but by helping composers get their works played as well. She highly values the arts and is very passionate about creating connections through the arts, and science using multi-disciplinary pieces with performance arts. This fascination between art and music has only further intensified her search and development of what artists have captured in the "abstract" movements of their works. As a conductor she allows herself to help "shape the material" of what her group plays so that the experiences connected within these multi-discipinary performances neither fall into the classical or free-jazz genres. This has created a sense of limitless creativity that she has added to her ongoing journey of adventure.

Renee Baker is an incredible musician, creator, director, and composer whose pieces and fervor have gained international attention. She has worked with many well-known groups along with entities outside of music realm including the Museum of Contemporary Art.
